Another Force Game Sample - PC/Doujin

{{
Whooo... it's been a pretty slow year folks. Quite a bit has happened that has kept us from being on YT (you can read up on some of that from our last bulletin/discussion), but we'd like to be more active from this point forward. I'll keep this one brief: Another Force is yet another 2D Fighter Maker title in progress that is freely available to the public. Featuring one-on-one, two-on-two and survival matches, the game is your typical fighting fare. The game's main distinctions are the "Freedom" system (similar to Guilty Gear's "Roman Cancel" mechanic, though not as flexible) and the incorporation of "Another Force" skills, which can be used as characters fight during matches and fill up a secondary gauge that gives players the letters A and F. While you usually only need one letter to pull off these moves, successfully using "Freedom" and "AF" skills can maximize your damage and combo potential. This is a video of the game in action. You can get the game at:

Dong Dong Never Die Game Sample - PC/Doujin/Indie
Here's an unusual game: A Chinese game developed with the Tsukuru Fighter Maker program and expanded with other tools to do things average FM games don't, such as support net play (don't know what a Chinese doujin is called). This is one of the most amazing, broken freeware fighters I've played in a long time. To clarify a little, I find the game amazing, but it is also amazingly broken in what I can presume to be intentional, as almost every character has the ability to do cheap infinity or 100% combos.
The game has some of the best photo-realism I've ever seen in a fighter like this, with fluid animations and excellent detail. The game's characters and animations were done by real people and combined with over 10,000 different photos to create the character animations and backdrops with some moderate spritework and the like thrown in for good effect. I absolutely love the quirky character roster and how little the game takes itself seriously (it even comes with an Akuma-Mario, Streets of Rage themed bonus levels, etc.), but the group also shows that they are quite talented in the process. They are currently working on a "secret" project (I'll show you in the video after this). The game was three years in the making.
The game is a combination of Street Fighter and KoF with visuals stylings more reminiscent of Mortal Kombat. The story is about a "street fighter" fighting competition in Guangzhou city of China in 2009. Before the finals, many fighters disappeared mysteriously. All the clues lead to the someone known as "Biochemistry Man". An undercover cop named "Dongdong" from Sichuan province began his trip to the South, disguised as a fighter to discover the truth. You can read more about the story in English at the links we'll provide, but it's actually based around Terminator (you know, Skynet and all that Jazz). The game has a general ending and plot, but Dong Dong (the main character) has an expanded story.

Pokémon Type: WILD Game Sample - PC/Doujin
Yup... just another of many games made with the Tsukuru fighting engine, but it's a Pokémon fighter. Don't ask me who all the Pokemon are, as I've lost track ever since RB&Y and only know very few of the more "modern" ones like Lucario and Gardevoir. I must admit that this game was a little better than I thought it would be at a glance but is pretty lacking as-is overall. Lucario and Gardevoir are pretty much the best fighters. All the rest are still pretty under-developed at this point and Lucario, Snorlax, Combusken/Wakasyamo (?), and Blaziken/Bursyamo(?) all basically share one super move (though Lucario and Snorlax have a second super here).
This video just shows some fighting with Lucario and Gardevoir and shows you what they can do. Now, this video is old and outdated. I have another one up that is for the newer version of the game (It has Lopunny/Mimilop in it as a playable fighter). You can learn about this game at:

Direct linking doesn't seem to work on where the developer has it uploaded so I will explain how to get the game. Basically, there will be an empty white box where you can type in and another box that has three characters in it (Alphanumeric stuff). Basically, you type in what the three characters say into the empty white box. It's like a capcha or whatever they call them that helps to weed out spammers and such. Once you've typed in the correct three characters, click the gray box underneath that should say something like "K_121687.zip". You will then proceed to the download.

Dragon Blast [Project Soul Gainer] Game Sample - PC/Doujin

{{
Dragon Blast is a pretty cool 3D Doujin fighting game (with 2D gameplay) that supports net play, but requires a pretty good computer to run well. The game allows you to alter many settings from graphics to audio, so it should run on many computers, but will look hideous without a decent comp. The roster of characters isn't too big, but each character is distinct and harbors many different attacks that you can use to string together complicated combos. This game is probably better played against a friend, as the A.I. is pretty dumb and guards 80% of the time, so if you wanted, you can just cross them up and throw them and do combos that way to your hearts content.

Ougon Musou Kyoku

{{
While there are plenty of fun doujin games out, you don't usually expect a doujin game to start off the gaming year on the right foot, but if Ougon Musou Kyoku, 07th Expansion's doujin fighter released at C79, based on their popular "Umineko" visual novel games, is any indication or taste of what we'll see throughout 2011 (technically, it was released 12/31, but who cares), then I have three words for you all: "BRING IT ON".
