Melty Blood (often abbreviated as "Merubura") is a 2D fighting game developed by TYPE MOON and Watanabe Seisakujo (now French Bread) based upon TYPE MOON's visual novel game, Tsukihime. Melty Blood makes use various gameplay mechanics which is usually found in fighting games in general, such: EX-Shielding (a high reward technique which eliminates the damage), Magic Circuit (a meter for various uses such EX attack) and an original special feature named Reverse Beat (the ability to cancel attacks with large amounts of recovery into fast jab attacks). The game story is around Shiki Tohno who meets Sion Eltnam Atlasia and decides to help her acquire the information of the "cure for vampirism." Melty Blood was released at Comiket 63, on December 30, 2002.
